As young adults, university students are at a critical point in their lives where they are discovering who they are and what they want to achieve. It is common for them to experience ruminating thoughts and feel overwhelmed.
In the workshop, @counsellorgwa, a Registered Counselor with APCPA, introduced the thought train technique based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help participants explore their thinking processes. This approach guided students in separating their “self” from ruminating thoughts. Participants also used the ACT flip cards to identify the underlying positive values behind their negative thoughts.
By the end of the workshop, participants created their own ACT flip cards to unhook themselves from ruminating thoughts and empower themselves to live their unique lives with purpose and fulfillment.
